Blessed to have read this biography of a fine, suffering woman, Third Order Dominican, another victim soul and mystic!
Fr. Bertrand Wilberforce's introduction "On The Mystical Life" is a gift in itself. St. Catherine was current with St. Mary Magdalen de' Pazzi, and both of Italy. Seems they appeared to one another in vision, one bilocating. The volume includes information regarding her mystical experiences, passions in union with Christ, her community and letters. I had scoured for a few years for this one, only to see now it is in reprint for far less than I paid! However, holding a venerable hardbound from London's Kensington Carmel, knowing that many nuns held and read these very same pages and absorbed St. Catherine's saintly life, is worth every cent.… (mehr)
