Prinzessin María de la Paz von Bayern (1862–1946)

Infanta María de la Paz was a daughter of Queen Isabella II of Spain and her husband Francis, Duke of Cádiz. In 1868, the Queen was deposed by events known as the Glorious Revolution, and the family went into exile in Paris. Maria de la Paz was educated with her sisters Pilar and Eulalia at a convent school. Six years later, her brother was restored to the throne in place of their mother as King Alfonso XII, and the family returned to Spain. In 1883, Maria de la Paz married her first cousin Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria, with whom she had three children. She wrote poetry and several books, including her memoirs, Through Four Revolutions: 1862-1933 (1935), and translated from German to Spanish the historical books written by her son Prince Adalbert.
