This set was offered by our local grocery store. My mother purchased each volume as it was offered, one each week, until she had all12 volumes. I would sit and read them cover to cover when I was a girl.

The second volume in the Woman's Day Encyclopedia of Cooking, this one has everything from Baba and Bacon to Brains and Brazil Nuts. There's also a thirty-page section devoted entirely to Beef, and a smaller section dedicated to Barbeque. What can I say, you had me at Scrambled Eggs and Brains.

Volume 8 in the Woman's Day Encyclopedia of Cooking, the first fifty pages is dedicated to Entertaining guests with food, whether it's a brunch, buffet, or after-game get-together. After that, you have everything from Escarole to Fondue, with another large section on preparing everything Fish. And have no fear, there ARE gelatin recipes to be had. Thank you, Woman's Day!

This is the first volume of the 1979 edition of the Women's Day Encyclopedia of Cookery. "Cookery" isn't really a term you here used often these days, is it? This volume covers everything from Abalone to Avocado, with special sections such as American Cookery (Which Includes "Chinese Sweet-and-Sour Pork" for some reason), and Apple Cookbook (Because there's so much you can do with apples, although not enough to merit calling it Cookery). A nice throwback to a time when looking up random recipes online wasn't an option.… (mehr)
