I used this book for text connection. it is a great book to get the students to think about their manners at school and at home and how they are different.

Why do I have to go to bed earlier than my big sister? Why do I have to wait for my birthday to get my present? Why did my friend get mad at recess when I took my turn on the swing and she had to wait? This book shows children doing typical day-to-day activities and shows them using the appropriate manners that one would need to use in that situation. I like this book because it gives examples of several situations of good manners, includes children of various ages, and has several fun facts at the end which give examples of good manners in other countries. The children in the book use good manners in places such as in the store, a restaurant, or a museum. On page 16, the children use good manners by waiting in line at the movie theater. The book also uses children whose ages range from early elementary school through middle school. On page 23 there are six fun facts about manners in different countries. One fun fact is that in Venezuela, it is proper to sit with a straight back because it is rude to slouch. The idea of this book is to teach children to be polite so that they can be a successful member of society.… (mehr)
