The Family Farmer is a great little memoir about farming in post-war England. Written in 1947 at the time when small family farms were transitioning from horse to mechanical power it's an interesting read.

The book goes into details about family life, village life, general farming activities, auctions, family dairy operations, new post war science & technology, etc

Also part of the book is a woman who lives on the farm from London who was allocated to the farm due to the Battle of Britain, lots of interesting tid bits such as this are contained in the work.

The book then wraps up with some farming tips from the author on how to 'make it' as a family farmer.… (mehr)
