Imagine how surprised I was to find this book--with the jacket, tattered somewhat, but still present--in a thrift store! Especially since it was the book utilized by my high school electronics, Edwin Heikkela in Midland TX. I don't remember if he was in the military, but if I remember correctly, his undergraduate work was in Chemistry. Yet, he was quite excellent as an electronics teacher, and this book is part of the reason why. Volume 1 in this single volume of all five volumes is he most important, as it skillfully outlines the fundamentals of electronics technology which are necessary to proceed to the successive volumes. But, make no mistake about it, this is no simple text. it builds upon what was first learned about basic electrical theory and practice, whereupon this book proceeds.… (mehr)
