El premio Gigamesh es un galardón que otorgó desde 1984 hasta 2000 la revista Gigamesh a partir de la votación de sus lectores. Fue el primer galardón importante dentro del género en España. Las obras nominadas las elegía un jurado entre las obras editadas profesionalmente en España durante el año anterior, pero los ganadores se decidían de acuerdo a los resultados de una votación abierta. No era un premio especializado en ciencia ficción, sino que ésta era tan sólo una de sus categorías (otras eran terror, fantasía, mejor revista...). Dentro del apartado de ciencia ficción distingue tres categorías: novela, antología y relato. No hacía distinciones por categorías entre autores nacionales o internacionales, por lo que los premiados correspondían habitualmente a obras traducidas al español, lo que lo convertía en un premio bastante internacional. Sólo unos pocos autores españoles consiguieron hacerse con esta distinción en el apartado de mejor relato. (Spanish, Von Mitgliedern verfasst)
