Hello Dara.
I thought it would be fun to see how how shared books grew as well.
Thank you for the friendship invitation. I always appreciate it someone is interested enough in my library or conversation to want to "spend" more time with me.
I will talk to you later on down the line.
Thank you again.
belva
Thanks for the invitation to become friends. I'm delighted!

As of today, we share 94 books. I was reading your list, and thought, Oh, he/she has read some GREAT books. Yesterday I finished 102 Minutes: The Untold Story of the Fight to Survive Inside the Twin Towers and noticed this was on your list, too. What a book!

If you'd like to see what I have been reading, you could do a tag search on "read in 2009." The books without stars are books I have not yet finished. Everything else I have rated. I've read so many amazing books this year.

I checked out your 5-star books for just a couple minutes, and I'd love to read some of the books you've read. I'll have to see what our local libraries have.

Interesting that you're from Iowa. I lived in Des Moines and Muscatine in my childhood (until third grade) and have many relatives still living in Baxter, Iowa. So I have a soft heart for Iowa. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for the friend invite, you can never have too many avidreader friends.
Dara....Thanks for the recommendation of Mary. I have seen this book, but thanks for the heads up.
I will definitely look into getting it. Wisteria
Thank you for joining my new thread
Thought you might be intersted in joining my new thread. Check it out.

No problem I'm glad to accept any friend request through librarything. I like your picture the bugs reading are really cute! I have a strong interest in true crime although I read lots of other books too. I am thinking of getting a degree in criminology but I'm not sure yet. I have a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design, and I have a masters in library science. I could try for another bachelors or a masters degree in criminology and then perhaps work for a crime library somewhere instead of public. I'm finally living on my own and away from my parents so I've got to support myself and pay rent, so I don't know if I will be able to go for an extra degree just yet. So enough babbling about me, tell me a little about yourself.
Hi, Dara!

Thank you for the reccomendations! I read The Book Thief last year and loved it! Stones From the River sounds interesting, I'll check it out. Is it anything like The Book Thief? 'Cause then I'm going to love it. :)

My book lists tend to be not only a list of books I have read but books I want to read. In the Lake of the Woods is in the TBR pile. I've read the entire Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series (and have seen both movies.. book 1 is movie one, book 2-5 is movie two) and Testimony. One of my co-workers frequently recommends Anita Shreve to patrons, but I hadn't read any books by her.

I'm curious about your book club with the Talking Book Program patrons. Is it teleconference? How many patrons participate? How do you go about building excitement for participation? Any other details that you think might be helpful if I were to do something similar here? I think that is a great idea and would love to hear more about it.
Take care.

Shannon
P.S. I work for the Talking Book Program in Texas.
I've read two out of the four books on your list of best of quarter. I'm curious as to which ones stand a chance at being on the list at the end of the year. I agree it has been a slow quarter of reading for me.
Hopefully some great reading ahead.

Shannon
