This may be an online published novel. From before 2015. So, this girl has this necklace/pendant that was protecting her until her 15-16? Birthday. The backstory was that every 7th generation, the girls will be a witch (called something else, like banditas?) so the necklace will protect them until the birthday. The girl is being hunted by this boy (her romantic interest) and his family/clan because long ago a witch woman liked this man, she tried to use magic to win his love but he was too strong/had magic too. So she won his son and the family has been chasing her descendants ever since. The boy has a similar magic of every 7th generation has powers, the clan took advantage of that and intermarried so that the children will be more than every 7 generations, like a 5th and 7th at the same time. She meets another girl like her with the necklace, and she is also being pursued by a demon/boy? (Love rival). She also reveals that because she is a desendant of the witch and the guy's son she has the powers of the clan and will help them hunt down others of her kind if she can be with her romantic interest.

Could she have been called a "bruja?" There's the Brooklyn Brujas series, and some others.

>7 Sen_Tuar: Is it Tanya Huff's The Enchantment Emporium series?

No, that's not quite right. Also I remembered this girl knew nothing about her origins/powers until after her parents told her (Average girl discovers she's not so average trope).

Was the necklace in the shape of a dragonfly? I remember a book that sounds like this from around 2009. I can picture the cover with a dragonfly necklace on the front, and remember a scene in the woods, but I am struggling to recall the title.

I don't remember if the necklace had a shape, but I'll try to look into that book.
Books with dragonflys on the cover but are not the book:
Dragonfly by Julia Golding, mark of the dragonfly, dragonfly oath, and
The Dragonfly Necklace by McKinney and Maya Siobhan.

Could it possibly be The mortal Instruments Series, by Cassandra Clare?
From your description, it reminds me of those books, but there are several differences in between the Mortal instruments and your description.

No, not the mortal Instruments Series, its too popular. This book (or series?) is probably not that famous. I wish I could remember more but is been over 5 years since I read that book. I read a lot of moves off the internet during that period.

That does sound familiar, but I can't remember which book it was. You're welcome to browse my library to see if you recognise the title there (I have logged every book that I have read since I joined LT.)

Your library has over 900 entries, and I have no remote idea of the title, I'll still browse through to see if something triggers, but I don't have much hope.

I think you are looking for Silver by Talia Vance. The girl is a Bandia...
