First, the book is instantly recognizable to students since it has characters from Winnie the Pooh. This gives students an automatic investment in wanting to read the book and could help them decode words of some of the main characters. Second, the writing was very engaging as well. The story was about all of the characters trying to sled down a huge hill together, and the word choices make it very fun to read. For example, on page 26 it says, “Down, down they went, fast as the wind. Roo was having so much fun that he waved his arms in the air- and out Piglet fell.” This is accompanied by a two-page spread of all the characters flying through the air on a sled together. To an emerging reader, this would seem very action packed and peak their interest. Additionally, this book pushes readers to understand how friends would do anything for one another. The characters try three different times to make it all the way down the hill without losing Piglet. They try different ways of holding him until finally they make it down the hill all together. This encourages students to think of how they can be a better friend. I would say the main message of the story is friendship and going out of your way to make a friend feel important and included. ( ) In my opinion this is a really good book. The language in the book makes it easy and enjoyable to read. This book had great illustrations that showed great detail and went along flawlessly with the storyline. The characters were relatable and all of them served a purpose in the story. The character that had the most action was Piglet, “’I’m much too small to sled,’ said Piglet. ‘I always fall off”. This was the conflict in the story that was resolved by friends working together. The main message of this story that when everyone helps out, all can have fun. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
