Well, I didn't like this one as well as the first volume. Some of the stories were really confusing and didn't make much sense. I do like reading about the old classic manga but I felt the stories in the first one were more powerful. Yes, manga can do amazing things, but I didn't really feel the "amazing" in this collection. Fascinating to read something from a totally different genre. This is an English translation of a popular Japanese manga series. Set, loosely, in and around a used manga bookshop, the individual stories are stand-alone, but may share some common characters.
There is a subtlety here that I enjoyed - the message behind some of the stories is not explicitly spelt out - it is up to the reader to draw their own conclusions.
Great introduction to manga directed at adults. ( )

I am going to have to buy this series. It is amazing. A bunch of short stories rolled into each volume all revolving around a manga store. So many characters to meet in each volume and each character is matched up with a specific manga book only found at this used manga bookstore. Amazing and so good! ( )

Another interesting collection of stories, tied to a used manga shop in some way, and each one themed around a specific manga and its resonance. Not knowing anything about the original manga is of course an issue for me, but I found them worth reading nonetheless. Yoshizaki depicts characters well, giving an array of new characters a touch of life even in the few pages each chapter permits. My one criticism would be that artwise, it's not always easy to tell characters apart, and this has particularly been a bit confusing when older characters recur. It doesn't help that stories often include flashbacks, and so age can also vary considerably. On the whole though, good. ( )

More short stories centered around Kingyo Used Books, where manga changes lives.
