How to Make Slime by Lori Shores is a fun and interactive book teachers can use with their students. The book shows clear illustrations and explicit instruction of the steps to making slime. A glossary at the back of the book defines key terms, such as mixture, rubber, and surface. Critical thinking questions are also given at the end of the book, which can assist teachers in getting students to think in a scientific way. This science text can also assess readers’ ability to use the language of explanation and nonverbal communication to show they understand the text. How to Make Slime by Lori Shores is a great book to have in the classroom especially for young students. The book details in great detail of how to make slime. The book shows clear pictures of how much of each ingredient you need, the pictures are clear enough for everybody to understand and won't cause any problems even for students who struggle reading in English. The book also show detailed pictures of the step by step process for making slime so that kids can easily decipher what the words on the page state. This would be a great book to have in any classroom, since it is an easy to read and is something that most kids will enjoy since who does not like slime. How to Make Slime by Lori Shores is an instructional science text that teaches young readers how to create their own slime. The book has very large and colorful images that keep the reader engaged while making the directions easy to follow without even having to read the words. It also has very large font that clearly describes each step to correctly construct the slime. The book also motivated children to think critically about why the slime reacts the way it does. The texts includes questions like "what happens when..." and "Why does this happen" that push the reader to think critically about the relationship between the cornstarch and the water. Another thing I really loved about the text was the glossary. It opens readers up to scientific terms like solid, liquid, and surface. This helps children broaden their vocabulary while having a hands on example of what these words represent in real life in their slime. The book is a great tool to open up early elementary school learners to making hypothesis', experimenting, and making conclusions. This book encourages students to critically think about the process of changing matter. Students will be able to compare and contrast and sequence as they follow the author on a journey. The author uses language that is both directive and descriptive. ELL students in particular will connect with the illustrations and simple syntax. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
