"Reading Marguerite's book is like sitting down in your favorite easy chair and having a chat with a close friend. She doesn't hold back and with a touch of humor, lets you into her life, explaining what it's like to live with narcolespy." This review from "The Sleep-e Times" Spring 2003 online newsletter (scoop0901.net/Sleep-e_Times) continues: "The author puts into words things that are often difficult for narcoleptics to explain to others who do not have the condition....." "(It) is a must-read by anyone living with a narcoleptic, but can also be a boon for others, such as extended family, friends, co-workers and employers of narcoleptics, and possibly people with other sleep disorders---" The book is endorsed by narcolepsy support groups, sleep specialists and professional groups, and has been used as a a textbook by a leading professor of sleep medicine. Although the books was published in 1995, it is still the only full-length book (166 pages) devoted to narcolepsy, a neurological sleep disorder characterized primarily by excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. An insert into the book informs readers where they can find updated information on research into the causes of narcolepsy, which is the only major development since that time.
