I was looking for a book about normal people dealing with zombies and Rise of the Governor mostly fit the bill. The book takes place in Georgia during the first days after the zombies show up, and follows five people on their way to a safe zone in Atlanta. I liked reading about their attempts to figure out what is going on and survive.

Just a warning, there are a couple acts of rape and torture in this book. Some characters slowly turn into villains and do awful things.

I listened to this on audiobook and the narrator does a good job. ( )

"The Rise of the Governor" was not what I expected, but I was not disappointed.

This book allows you to see Philip and Brian Blake from the first days of the rising until they get to Woodbury. Each place they get to gives insight into their psyches.
You can see how losing Penny twists each man.

I haven't read the comics or other trade paperbacks, so the end blew me away. I won't forget this book. ( )
