Le cose non vanno tanto bene però. Molti umani vorrebbero soltanto sterminare i mostri... La protagonista è Mira, figlia adottiva di Renata e Niko. Diventata grande e guerriera come la madre, Mira è un tipino tutto pepe pronta a disubbidire agli ordini e a fare di testa sua. E così, cacciandosi nei guai, finirà per incontrare la sua vecchia fiamma, che credeva morto in un'esplosione, Kellan Archer (una nostra vecchia conoscenza). Leader naturale e dall'onore ancora integro, Kellan scappa dal suo futuro con Mira, finendo però - siete sorpresi? - per finirle decisamente addosso. Nel complesso è un romanzo carino, ma, per quanto mi riguarda, si è rovinato un po' nel finale. Questi nuovi cattivi nella loro organizzazione ricordano un po' troppo quelli vecchi. (  ) lasiepedimore | Aug 1, 2023 | Just finished my reread and uping this to 4 stars. Definitely a better read the 2nd time around. I was looking forward to this one. I knew it was a jump 20 years in the future from the last book and that is actually one of my favorite parts of the book. To see Nathan, Mira and Kellan all grown up and being a part of things. There was plenty of suspense and action. All the mysteries and intrigues are there. Although I love the Midnight Breed series, this was not one of my favorite of the series. My biggest problem was the redundancy throughout the book. Way too many words used over and over again to explain Mira and Kellan's actions and feelings. If at some point this repetitiveness had stopped I would have given her 4 stars. I think all those words could have been better used to make all the other characters and situations more vivid. Because, in truth, it is my ONLY problem with the book. But for me, it was work to read this one. It didn't hold me tight in its grip like the most of the books in this series does. Erst war ich schockiert, dass wir in der Zeit 20 Jahre weiterrücken und habe gehofft, dass dadurch die Magie der Serie nicht verloren geht. Aber meine Ängste waren unbegründet.
Mira, einst das kleine Mädchen, ist eine selbstbewusste, starke Frau geworden. Eine Kriegerin in den Reihen von Kriegern des Ordens, und sie weiß genau, wie sie Erfolg im Kampf hat. Auch, wenn ihr hitziges Temperament und ihre Jagd nach Rache sie oft über die Stränge schlagen lässt. Doch der Schmerz ihres Verlustes sitzt einfach zu tief.
Am Anfang des Buches hätte ich niemals mit diesem Umschwung gerechnet und niemals hätte ich mir erträumt, dass Mira letztendlich ihr Glück und ihre Liebe findet. Denn die Schicksalsschläge, durch die die junge Frau bis dahin in ihrem Leben gehen musste, deuteten eigentlich nie auf ein Happy End hin.
Doch ihr Mut, ihr Wille und ihre niemals sterbende Liebe haben es möglich gemacht. (
