![]() SYES Library Wishlist (199) Keine aktuelle Diskussion zu diesem Buch. ![]() ![]() This is a book about the process in which a caterpillar goes through in order to become a butterfly. This book has many pictures and diagrams that help explain the process. This science text helped me collect science data for reading from my student in the internship. There are descriptive attributes and characteristic events that can be identified on each page. This text is also great for working with sequencing of events of a science text. Lastly, the sentence structure almost follows a pattern, in that there are limited differences in the structure from page to page, which makes the student more comfortable and is great for guided reading. The pictures are very descriptive and beneficial. Summary: This is an informational children's book that explains the life cycle of a butterfly for very young/beginning readers. This subject has been visited by many authors, however, National Geographic provides extremely detailed real life pictures to accompany the many details and information provided for young readers. It begins with a little riddle, and then it begins to explain the four stages of a butterfly's life. Personal Reaction: I thought this was a cute book. It is a Level 1 Reader, so it is for children just beginning to read. However, the pictures are great and attention grabbing, and it is written in a very simple way for young learners. Classroom Extension Activities: 1. Use different types of pasta noodles to show the four different stages of a butterfly's life cycle. 2. Use actual caterpillars ordered online to watch first hand the different phases a caterpillar goes through to become an actual butterfly. 3. Provide twinkies, frosting, green food coloring, m&m's for eyes, and licorice for antennae to make their own edible caterpillars. Summary: Informational book by National Geographic that depicts the life cycle of a butterfly. The book begins with in depth descriptions of each cycle (egg, chrysalis, caterpillar, butterfly) and concludes by showing several typed of butterflies. Personal reflection: Very nice illustration. Maybe better for the 1-2 grade age set. Overall, good informational book. Classroom Extension: 1. Journal Prompt describing the cycle on the students own. 2. Draw a detailed picture of a butterfly. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
