I do so enjoy this series, and I'm very pleased to read that there is a Tv show in the works. http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/06/ven-aaronovitchs-peter-grant-series-optioned-fo.... I may be begining to get a bot lost on the who is who as new, and returning characters are introduced, but that probably just means I need to go back and reread the previous books. Series:Rivers of Londer: #4 2023-11-03: Was looking around for my next read and decided to continue this series rather than something new. I must be enjoying them. 2023-11-05: Gah! You backstabbing bastard! I'm referring to the author of course. I called it at the end of book one and I'm really sorry to see I was right. If I see something coming then it means the author was lazy because I'm a dumbass about foreshadowing and such. Now I want her dead. Which is a little unfair because I understand that she was telling herself horror stories but she put her vanity over the welfare of others and at least one person was murdered for her benefit and does she really think Faceless lets her walk away, with or without her face? I hope A-A-ronovitch at least leaves her stupidly vane and doesn't have her go truly evil. Wouldn't be a surprise though. Really tempted to quit the series and just go read the Wikipedia summaries. 2023-11-05: I did read the summaries and don't know if I'll continue the series. Maybe at least the Abigail novella. I'm tired of books about sleepwalkers. I understand that's the majority of humanity and that they don't know that they're sleepwalking or that there are other options, but sleepwalkers hurt themselves and those around them as they bumble about with their eyes closed. This is the same as my dislike of books where one conversation negates the entire plot. That's just lazy writing, while in the sleepwalker case it's probably a sleeper doing the writing so no surprise that's what they write. So much suffering caused by humans not understanding that they're animals, even if they're the only animal with the option to be something more. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML:Ben Aaronovitch's bestselling Rivers of London urban fantasy series ? ??The perfect blend of CSI and Harry Potter.? ??io9 A mutilated body in Crawley. A killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil, possibly an associate of the twisted wizard known as the Faceless Man. Or maybe just a garden-variety serial killer. Before apprentice wizard and Police Constable Peter Grant can even get his head 'round the case, two more are dropped in his lap: a town planner has gone under a tube train, and there's a stolen grimoire for Grant to track down. So far, so London. But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening on a housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans, and inhabited by the truly desperate. Is there a connection? And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River??in the jurisdiction of some pretty prickly local Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

I read this on the Libby app and while I like the ease of finding books and placing holds, I'm not thrilled with having to read on my phone. The settings are limited; I want to be able to easily alternate between the lowest of the low brightness for reading in bed and being able to read in daylight. I'm going to try an audiobook of the next one in the series. ( )
