Fourteen-year-old twins Haley and Lacey are looking forward to having a terrific summer. Spending time with their grandmother Clara in Bidwell, Massachusetts has always been a highlight for the girls. However, unbeknownst to Clara, as well as to most of the residents of the quiet town of Bidwell, Haley and Lacey have a secret that they have been keeping for approximately a year: both girls are actually magically-gifted students, being taught by Clara's best friend Giselle.

For the past fifty years, Giselle Westerfield has been the guardian of the forest, charged with keeping the balance between the magical and natural realms. She has been training Haley and Lacey, as well as Lacey's boyfriend Taylor to use their magic responsibly. But this particular summer is different. After a minor earthquake, the enchanted forest is disturbed; there are rifts that have been opened, spewing forth monstrous infestations that can only come from nightmares.

Giselle's great nephew, the Gifted Micah, as well as his distant cousin Selena arrive to assist Giselle in healing the forest. Much to Selena's consternation, Micah quickly identifies Haley as The One who will become his destiny. But after witnessing a terrifying display of Micah's Gift, Haley cools to his advances and unexpectedly discovers her own Gift - she can heal the earth.

Monsters, mayhem, and teenage angst follow the intrepid little group of defenders as they confront evil within the forest and an ominous prophecy that 'One Will Fall'. Will they heal the rifts in time? Can they save the unicorns? And is Haley truly destined to be with Micah?

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. The story was well-written and the characters were extremely likable. In my opinion, the plot was also fast-paced and exciting; although reading the book took slightly longer than I expected it would. I give this book an A ! and am looking forward to reading the sequel as soon as possible. ( )

I received this book in exchange for a honest review ~WaAr~

I just love love this book, and I'm hoping to see more to this story. I love the characters so much. I can relate to Hayley easy and Lacy reminds me of my sister. I also love Micah (who wouldn't)! Taylor is also a great character. The writing is wonderful and it is a fast read full of adventure! I'm very impressed and can't wait to read more by this author!!

Hayley and Lacy are twins down for the summer to visit their father and Grandmother Clara. They take lessons from Gisele in the summer to learn about herbs, plants, and different things. This summer is different though, Gisele doesn't have time to teach them. She is charged with healing the ancient forest as her relatives done in the past. When an unknown evil entity threatens the forest Gisele brings her great nephew and Selena to help her heal the rifts. Unbeknownst to her, Hayley, Lacy, and Taylor come in and decide to help Gisele when she told them not to. Gisele finds out she can't do it with the teens and reduced to training them for the upcoming battle. Who will win? Will Hayley trust Micah? Who will betray them? Will the prophesy come true? Who will fall? You will have to read this amazing book to find out. I give this a 5 star review!

Twins Haley and Lacey are ready for an exciting summer. They are meeting with a woman named Gisele who has shown them some pretty amazing and magical things already. This summer it appears that they will be healing "rifts" in the forest that are letting magical mayhem loose. Things are complicated by several things though, not the least of which is Gisele's grand-nephew Micah. He's handsome, talented, and sure that Haley is the one for him. His distant cousin Selena doesn't like this at all. Through in tons of magical creatures and some eerie prophecies, and you get an exciting adventure for everyone.

I liked the concept of this book. The magical creatures escaping through rifts in a mysterious forest was fantastic. I think this book suffered a bit in the execution though. The writing was a bit choppy for my tastes. It just never seemed to flow like I wanted. Also, there was a lot of teenage angst, especially in the middle part of the story, that I wasn't really in to. I have a feeling though that those things won't be issues for some people. They will manage to get caught up in the fantasy and magic of it all. If you can do that, you'll really enjoy this book.

As I said, the idea of this book was great, and the plotline showed that. There were so many interesting and inventive creatures. I really wanted to know more about those. I think younger readers will find a lot to enjoy in this book. While I didn't really enjoy the teenage angst, I think some people will really love that part. The idea of being magically destined for the other still doesn't get you past the worries and problems that teens have. That was kind of fun to see in some respects. Overall this book was interesting and very magical. I think there are many people who will love those aspects of the book and really enjoy reading it.

4 STARS

I was surprised to find out this was the first book. The background on what happened last summer was so well remembered and discussed between the twins and Taylor. Really well told back story. This is a fantasy adventure, clean read that keeps you spellbound with it's magic. Lots of magical creatures. Lots of scary creatures I would not want to deal with. Some human teenagers who have some talent of their own. A epic battle if the fail life will not be the same.

Lacey and Haley are fourteen year old twins who parents got divorced last year. They are spending the summer with their grandmother out in the country. They are excited because last summer here in the forest they met some fairies and other magical creatures some good and some scary ones. They learned about gathering herbs in the forest from Gisele their grandmother's friend.

Lacey also found a boyfriend Taylor. She is excited to spend time with him again this summer.

Gisele Westerfield knows that this summer will be different. It will be dangerous and take a lot of magic to close all the rifts in the forest. They had to close them 50 years ago and one of her friends did not survive it. Her family has magic and are caretakers of the forest. They have to stop the dark creatures from coming into our world and destroying it. Her family don't believe that it will be bad again. Only her great nephew Micah at 16 and his distant cousin Selena have come to help her.

Micah has lots of magical gifts. One he knows when someone is going to play a big role in his life. He sees a picture from last summer and is drawn to Haley. He knows she is to be part of his future. He can tell her apart from her twin in the picture. He can force anyone to obey him, fight with a sword and wand. He is sixteen.

Selena is fifteen and small. She is in love with her cousin Micah. She will do anything for him. She knows that this summer will be the summer they get back together.

When shy Haley and Micah meet everyone else disappears. They are so drawn to each other. Haley is scared about all of Micah's powers.

Gisele had tried to keep them from meeting. She told Lacey, Haley and Taylor that they needed to stay out of the forest this year. It was dangerous. To go home till they can close the rifts.

As the three leave and ride their bikes back to their grandmother's they see a unicorn and follow it into the forest. Haley feels like she can close the rift and stretches out her hands and goes into a trance. Haley is then attacked. Lacey and Taylor start firing their water pistols at the creatures and they kill them. When the rift is closed Haley falls to the ground. They know they need to find the others and help them.

The story goes from everyday summer fun to fights to close the rifts. They have to wait so long between times they can go back in and fight. It does a good job of mixing the two vast different times together. Lots of action, drama, fights and teenage angst as they fight their fears to save the forest. Some of the magical creatures our fairies, trolls, dragons, unicorns, Tinks, and many more surprises.

I enjoyed reading Rift Healer and look forward to more adventures into the forest. I was given this ebook to read and agreed in exchange to give honest review and be part of their blog tour. ( )
