Part of the famous "Who Was" series this book lead us through the life of the well known author Mark Twain. This book is geared towards 4-6th grade students who are wanting to get a basic understanding of the life that Mark Twain Lived. It uses simple language and is best used for a project or individual reading. Who was Mark Twain? Mark Twain was a man who was very rich and famous. Mark Twain had written many good books in his times. When he was a boy he watched ships go by in the near by river. When he had his first job he had to herd cattle to the north. The person that had him help kept him there. One snowy night he decided to sneak out. Why would I reccomend this book. I would recommend this book because it is very well done and very organized as well. It was a very good book since it was nonfiction. I could barely put this book down. This coming from someone that doesn't like nonfiction. It is very easy to know wash at is happening in the story. That's why I reccomend this book. The book who was Mark Twain? was obviously about Mark Twain. Originally born Samuel Langhorne Clemens, Mark was born November 30, 1835 in a two room house in a town called Florida,Missouri. One unusual event that happened on Mark's birthday is that he was born as Halley's comet came into view. Mark was a trouble maker as a boy he didn't care for school much besides being really good at spelling and loving to write he would skip school most days where he liked to go fish and smoke pipes with his friends. As mark got older he was adventurous he's father died when he was only 12 but he was never really close with his father but his other couldn't afford him so she sent him to a newspaper shop where he worked as an apprentice but once he got older he left he tried to approach a get rich quick scheme but that back fired so he ended up convincing a steam boat pilot to teach him Mark thought the job would be to much but soon found out it was quite easy. But soon the civil war broke out and he had to quit piloting. A few years later he went west to Nevada with his brother that's when he really started to write and that's when he wrote a story called the jumping frog it was a hit and took him off from there. Mark did marry and have kids but his first child his son Langhorn died after that Mark had 3 daughters life was good but a couple years later he kept investing into a bad invention which caused him to go bankrupt he made up for it but soon his daughter Susy died at age 24. 4 years later marks wife Livy got sick and unfortunalty died causing deep sorrow his daughter Clara started having nervous breakdowns and his daughter Jean gained epilepsy. Mark say his happy family fall apart years passed and Mark did simple writing Once his daughter Jean died he stop writing all together. Clara was the only child to live and marry. Mark died April 21, 1910 as Halley's comet came back into view. Overall I think the book was a good book ii think that Mark was a hard working man who didn't give up in life i think that even in his hardest times mark was motivated and kept going he was a strong individual who didn't give up i wish Mark would've lived longer but in a way i guess he does through his books The adventures of tom sawyer and the adventures of huckleberry Finn. The book was very sad but also very informing of the things he went through; it didn't seemed rushed and was overall enjoyable. I barely even knew he mark was before this book now i feel like i always knew him in a way. It seemed as if he was just a simple man who wanted to write i feel so sorry for him when it came to his family from happy to pieces it was truly terrible, but i think he over came and did it this book and his life will always be amazing I think that this is a good book. I like that although it is a chapter book, illustrations were included to enhance the text. For example, the illustrator drew multiple maps in order to show the reader where certain events took place. Also, I like that the author included a list of Mark Twain's books at the end of the biography. As I was reading, I became fascinated with Twain's life and wanted to read some of his books. This list served as a wonderful resource for me because it gave me several suggestions of books to read. The main idea of this book is that hard work can make your dreams come true. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
