Grey reminds me why I fell in love with puzzles. Harbour Falls is a cryptogram waiting to be solved. The clues are a seduction. The red herrings are abundant and the heat is on fire. Maddy finds her heart on the line and maybe her health, when looks into solving an age old mystery. The prime suspect is the man that haunts her every waking moment. Should she trust her instincts or listen to her heart? Ernst narration stirs the hairs on your neck as Grey sends chills up your spine. This book made me remember how much I enjoy reading murder mysteries. All of the details and clues were so good! I felt like I could see it all in my head. S.R. Grey created the right amount of suspicion and for a while everyone was a believable suspect, even the H, Adam! I also love that I'm still not sure if he's completely innocent of all wrong doing! Well Done! My only hold up is for my taste I wanted there to be more steam and a stronger emotional connection between Adam and Maddy! It would have put it over the top for IMO. I love the moment when two people fall in love but for them I didn't feel it, but loved the story anyway! I still want more mystery so I will be checking out book 2 very soon! “Best-selling author of several novels” Maddy Fitch has returned to her hometown in northern Maine. Ostensibly dealing with a case of writers’ block, she’s really far more interested in solving an old murder case, where the chief suspect is Adam, a guy she had a crush on long years ago. It turns out Adam is just as handsome and enigmatic as ever, but does his secrecy hide shyness, pride, or guilt? And will Maddy survive falling in love? The mystery is nicely hidden in this tale, but uninvestigated clues and frantic conclusions might frustrate some readers. Romance is well-hidden at times as well, with two characters who can’t seem to choose between being unable to keep their hands off each other, or being unable to speak a line of truth. Mixed signals and lack of communication abound with sweetly suggestive strawberries, maxed out credit cards, and long digressions into inner dialog because, well, Adam is really attractive and he really might be guilty. “[H]ere I am again, rehashing the facts,” muses Maddy. But where will they lead? Harbour Falls is a long slow read, perfect for long evenings dreaming of a beautiful island with wild weather, wild passion, and wild plot. Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy during the author’s blog tour and I offer my honest review. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Best-selling author Maddy Fitch, while researching material for a new novel, returns to her hometown of Harbour Falls to investigate an unsolved disappearance that has haunted the tiny Maine coastal town for the past four years. Although the case has gone cold, Maddy soon discovers that the prime suspect, Adam Ward, is hotter than ever. The sexy, secretive Mr. Ward now makes his home on an isolated island near the coast, so Maddy takes up residence nearby to find out why this enigmatic man lives in such a secluded place. Is it because the missing person at the heart of the case, a young woman, was engaged to Adam at the time of her disappearance? Did the prime suspect perhaps move to escape the town's scrutiny, or is he hiding something much more sinister? As Maddy plunges into the case, she and Adam are drawn together. Should she fight her growing attraction to a possibly dangerous man? The mystery deepens, and the list of suspects, people who all had reasons for wanting to see the missing young woman gone, grows. Maddy hopes that by solving the mystery Adam will be proven innocent of any involvement, and they can then move forward with their relationship. But as she uncovers clues that begin to lead suspicion away from Adam, new secrets emerge that leave her questioning everything. Maddy continues to close in on the truth, threatening to blow the lid off the whole mystery. But what she doesn't realize is that she's actually caught up in someone's very dangerous game. Lies, secrets, deceptions. In Harbour Falls, nothing is ever what it seems. This steamy novel immerses the reader in an intricate storyline that will keep them glued till the very last page.
