This book would be great to read to students who may be sick or know someone that is sick. It is something that children will be able to relate to and will enjoy reading books about Rotten Ralph. Rotten Ralph is up to his usual mischief in this story, which tells how Ralph turns up his nose at the healthy food prepared for him by his owner Sarah, and instead opts to eat nasty, old food out of the alley trash cans. He proceeds to misbehave at the doctor’s office where he is made to stay the night. The exaggerated and expressive illustrations add the silliness and humor of this story, which is sure to delight any reader, perhaps especially good to offer to reluctant readers. Grade Level: 6 The was a chapter book but very, very funny. It was about a rotten cat named Ralph who alway ate the wrong kinds of food. If it was healthy he turned his head the other way. Then one night he stuck outside and ate from the trashcans he ate everthing from squid to rotten blue cheesecake. The next morning when he woke up he had the worst stomach ever so he went to the vent. The vet made him throw everything up and he felt and he learned to never eat the trash again. This could be a great take home book for students and then have them write a story about one time they ate rotten food and got sick from it. http://www.jackgantos.com/ this website has a lot of information about the author and it is desgnied very well.
