*Warning: This book contains some very disturbing situations, graphic violence, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years. Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy. At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he's also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet. Then it all shattered. Kidnapped. Starved. Beaten. I was alone and fighting to survive. When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me. I was wrong.… (mehr)

This book is a completely messed up continuation of With You. Emily gets kidnapped and is going to be trained as a sex slave. She endures some horrible, horrible things. Here's the kicker. Her "boyfriend" Sculpt/Logan is indirectly involved in this shit. His father runs this sex slave trade business and she was kidnapped to encourage Sculpt to work for his father as a fighter. Sculpt gets to keep and "train" her, until if/when he loses a fight. To say she is in a state of shock is an understatement. During her stay at this horrific place, they have "consensual sex". Consensual my ass! She either sleeps with Sculpt or she gets sold. She doesn't have a choice! Sculpt is a complete ass to her in the guise of protecting her. After about three weeks, she is saved/rescued.

Two years pass and she is living with her bff (Kat) & bff's brother on a farm. She and Kat help restore abused horses to health. Sculpt returns and wants to get back with her. He tells her his dad is dead, so I guess it's safe for them to be together again. I am just effing flabbergasted! She wants nothing to do with him and looking at him returns her to that place. He tells her what really happens (like she or I actually give a crap) and he wants her forgiveness because she's his. He bought the farm she lives on her and effing bff/bff's brother knew about it and kept that info from her. What kind of shit is that?!

Since this is labeled as romance, I know they are getting back together, which is completely ludicrous to me! At this point, I'm hate-reading this. I know I should DNF, but it's a train wreck that I can't stop looking at.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't even begin to adequately explain what a complete disaster this book was. Sculpt/Logan was a manipulative, controlling douche bag. Yeah, he went through messed up shit, but the stuff involving Emily was way out of line. She wanted him to leave her alone, and he just kept at her until she broke down. He used guilt to sway her his way and it was disgusting. In my opinion, nothing could be done to redeem Logan in my eyes.
I thought she gave in too easily and apparently his magic peen and her magical orgasms were enough for her to put aside the fear and degradation she suffered at his hand. He just knew that she was a natural submissive and didn't even attempt to ease her back into sex. Not that it really mattered since she was ready whenever he wanted it.

She gets kidnapped by one of his father's associates, but she is again saved at the end. Sculpt and pals were looking for him and didn't tell Emily what was going on for a long time. Instead, he told her what she could and could not do. When she tried to protest, he'd say that he was being cautious and just used sex to shut her up.

Some of her friends were caught in the crossfire and were hurt. I know I was supposed to care, but I didn't. I'm assuming there are going to be stories featuring some of these pointless side characters, but I will not be continuing with this train wreck.

This is labeled as a love story with some dark elements, a dark contemporary romance. I find this labeling misleading as it's far from a romance nor was it romantic in the least. Read at your own risk. ( )

I have incredibly mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, the relationship and the characters are believable, and the writing is impressively steamy... on the other hand, there are some problems.

I read the prequel and really enjoyed it, to the extent that I was anxious to read this first full installment in the series. My main complaint with the prequel was editing (which was thankfully cleared up here), but the prequel also left me wishing that things had been given a bit more time and depth. But, it was a novella, and so I figured that would all come with the full book... Unfortunately, this left me still wanting more depth. There was depth of emotion here, and angst, but when it came to depth of plot and to careful pacing, a lot was left to be desired. I flew through the first third of the book, and wish that that section of the story had been given more time (as it was, by far, the most plotted and interesting, and the least predictable) and more slowly developed--in fact, I would have been fine if that had been the whole book. The middle third left me wishing to be done; it was all angst, and felt incredibly repetitive--not to mention predictable. The last sixty pages or so of the book really picked up again, but by then I'd gotten rather tired of the main characters who, at this point, had grown less and less likeable--what with the angst, the repetition, and the occasional lack of reason/maturity. I suppose, I'm left disappointed because it seems like more development and focus could have made a big difference here, and in the end, although it was a nice enough escape for the most part, I'm sure it won't stick with me. And, honestly, I'm rather glad to be done with characters. It sounds like the second book is even more angst, which leads me to think it will be even more repetitive, so I doubt I'll pick it up (it is focused on different characters, but not ones I'm particularly curious about). I won't write off trying more of this author's writing, but I think I probably am done with this series. ( )

Let me tell ya, this book has it all.  Almost every fantasy I have was featured in this book.  And better yet, it was written in a believable way!  I don't know how she managed to include so much and still  pull that off.

I can already tell this series is going to be a favorite of mine.  Fighting. Motorcycles. Rock Stars. Masters. Military. JTF2. Seriously, hot alpha men overload.  It's like being a kid in a candy store when trying to pick which guy is your favorite.

All sweet was out; hot and scary with a teaspoon of sweet was in.

This book is about Emily and Sculpt/Logan.  Yes, it does have dark elements in the story, but personally I would not consider it a dark read.

After Emily's upbringing, she has a very low opinion of herself.  The only people she has in her life are her best friend and her best friend's brother.  After being attacked, she approaches Sculpt at one of his fights to ask for fight training.  Once getting to know Eme, Logan sets out with the goal of making her see her worth.  He wants to get over his past and hers and make both of their dreams come true.

You, Emily. You're worth fighting for. I fought all my life, but never for anything worthwhile. Now...Now I'm fighting for my heart. Bullshit ends here and now.

I thought I knew who Logan was after reading the prequel, but I had no idea.  I only knew of his current great traits and nothing of his past.  He is an illegal fighting champion who is only fighting to make enough money to help his band make it big.  He's the lead singer and guitar player.

Rock star fighter who likes a little extracurricular activity in bed?

Most of the way through the book, I really still didn't know who he was and what he'd been through.    His past is a whopper.  And even what he endures in this book is extensive.  Wow, what a man.  Emily doesn't get away with an easy ride either, at all.  She is kidnapped from one of Logan's concerts which drops her into an evil world and throws Logan back to his roots, a place neither of them wants to be.

We were torn apart, because Eme-I'd never have stayed away from you any other way.

After finishing the book, I finally saw how amazing a person he truly is.  I want my own Logan.

That pussy doesn't get fucked, touched, or played with without me. You need it, I'm happy to give it to you. But you, lying in bed plaint by yourself-no.

Torn From You is full of ups and downs, highs and lows.  There are so many gorgeous hunks of men. Also there are several villains.  Many complex relationships are explained.  It's full of great love and great hate.  The action factor is pretty high.  As I said, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

After reading the novella, I really couldn't wait to get started on this one, especially how the last ended.

This book carries on straight from With You, and is a very dark read that could cause some triggers for some, so be warned.

We are back with Logan and Emily and events unfold where both have to fight with everything that they have in order to achieve what makes them the happiest inn life and also what they love.

A story of how you can overcome the most horrific events, and come out the other end, stronger and living life to the full.

Some hot steamy scenes and events that go one way and then when you think you might know the outcome, you are completely thrown.

Nashoda has a way with words that she has you hooked from page one, I loved every minute of the book and I cannot wait to start the next in the series. ( )
