As sun rises, the ground thaws and the smell of dirt rises. The leaves become unfrozen too and loosen from the ground, blowing away with the wind. Grass becomes exposed and the hills regain their color. Shoes come off feet and squish in the mud. Winter melts away and leaves "happy mud". There are so many things to do in the mud...until spring comes and brings green.
