We had not read Book One, but there wasn't any immediate impression it was necessary. Broken into chapters corresponding with Diary entries, one entry per day of the week. I do believe I enjoyed it more than W, he hasn't yet mentioned it so I won't be requesting others via library loan, but sometimes nostalgia is enough to get him to pick up something later on. In this book Eva claims she’s seeing a ghost after her teacher had told the class a scary story. She goes out to hunt the ghost, but had problems proving that it’s real. She tries to take a picture but is so scared that the picture ends up blurry.
Eventually one night at school her class here’s a loud sound on the roof. They then look out the window and come to the conclusion that the ghosts are real. She manages to get her whole class to go on a ghost hunt with her.
I like how this book takes something scary for many children and helps to show them that things aren’t always as they may first appear. Eva thought she’d been seeing ghost but really it was just more owls like her. She learned that sometimes your mind and brain can play tricks on you, but it’s always a good idea to keep an open mind to other interpretations.
I really like this book series. The illustrations are colorful, it’s simple to read and is written in a childlike diary formation. I think any child that wants to read will easily fall in love with these books. ( )
