This is a true story of Ohioans & their Alaska Gold Prospecting in the Yukon, Koyukuk, Tanana & Chena River's Wilderness from their original, unpublished diaries, letters & photographs, told within the context of Alaskan heritage. Alaska is celebrating the Centennial of the Gold Rush & Ohio will be celebrating their Bicentennial; local historians will study their common history. Hardy individualists will listen to the men tell their challenges of high adventure & imagine themselves to be a part of one of the greatest gold rushes in history. Their photographs of the Athabaskan families & descriptions of the Esquimaux at Alaska are culturally significant. The Bibliography will be used by scholars for research & for families to enjoy by the fireplace in the wintertime. Although this has not been written about the Klondike Gold Rush in Canada, this is the first extensive diary of the Gold Rush in Alaska, on the Koyukuk & Chena Rivers in 1898-1900, prior to the discovery of gold & founding of Fairbanks in 1902.
