Iconographic study on Mexican Revolution leader Emiliano Zapata captured by photojournalists who worked from 1910 to 1915 close to the armed revolts: Agusti?n V. Casasola, Miguel Casasola, Manuel Ramos, Armando Salmero?n, Abraham Lupercio, Hugo Brehme amongst other photographers working for the newspaper "El Imparcial" and the weekly magazines "Revista de Revistas", "Cosmos" and "La Ilustracio?n Semanal". The book was originally the thesis presented by visual historian Ariel Arnal to obtain his Master degree in History (Univ. Iberoamericana). "The zapatistas of the Revolution in 1910 were far from heroic, clean or incorruptible leaders, the illustrated press of the revolutionary years portrayed them as vile, ruffians, thieves, as threatening and mean Indian campesinos scaring the civil population. Historian Arnal presents in his book a completely different vision of what we, up until now think of the agrarian leaders of the South. After reading this book we confirm that the image of Emiliano Zapata as a hero was not instituted after his death in 1919, but long after during the post-revolutionary years"-- p.
