Fiction. Mystery. HTML:

'Tis the season to be sleuthingâ??as two sisters try to solve a crime at a cooking show.

Picturesque Longley, New York, is ringing in the holiday season, but visions of sugar plums are not dancing in Libby Simmons's headâ??especially since she and her sister Bernie are set to appear on the Hortense Calabash Cooking Show. The premise is to give six professional caterers random ingredients and have them whip up a holiday meal. The icing on the fruitcake is that Hortense Calabash is a grinch of epic proportions. And the other contestants are some of the most demandingâ??and difficultâ??chefs in the business.
Bernie and Libby are thrown into the mix as arguments and accusations simmer on the set. Then Hortense, all dressed up as Santa Claus for the opening sequence, is killed by an exploding oven. With the holiday rush in full swing and a killer still on the loose, Bernie and Libby have no choice but to wrap up the mystery before their geese are well and fully cooked...
Includes scrumptious holiday recipes for you to try!

I am having a great time reading these holiday books, plus this is also a mystery. This is the second Catered Mystery that I have read, and the stories are light and delicious entertainment. The characters are "real" people that are not perfect individuals with a perfect body and a perfect life. Libby Simmons constantly nibbles on chocolate, but her cooking ideas are mouth watering. Libby is a bit timid and a little overweight, a likeable character. Her boyfriend is a timid undertaker, who also loves eating. But Bernie Simmons, the other sister, is a fashion connoisseur and walking Wikipedia. This episode delves into the televised cooking show, the world of cooking, and the gullibility of people. Crawford presents a PG rated mystery with many delicious ideas intertwined in the story. ( )

A mystery so cozy it invites you to cuddle up by the fire. The cullinary tips okay throughout the narration but the recipes at the end have little to do with the food included in the book. ( )
