Erotic Literature. Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. HTML:

From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited second book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the "bargainer" she owes countless favors to.

She survived the mad king...but the nightmare isn't over.

Siren Callypso Lillis still wears the physical reminders of her time as Karnon's captive, even after reuniting with soulmate Desmond Flynn, the King of Night. Not only that, but mounting evidence suggests the Thief of Souls, the being responsible for the disappearance of countless fae warriors, is still out there.

Invited to an annual Solstice celebration, Callie and Des journey to the Kingdom of Flora to continue their investigation. But under the bright lights and striking blooms of the realm, new complications arise, ones that no amount of bargaining can undo. Soldiers begin to go missing from the gathering, and some of the fae begin to suspect Des is the man behind it all. To Callie, one thing is certain: no one is who they appear to be. Not even her soulmate.

Fairies play dangerous games. Some want love, some want vengeance, some want flesh, and some want horrors too unspeakable to name. Something is stirring in the Land of All that Grows, and if Callie isn't careful, it will claim everything she lovesâ??and her along with it.… (mehr)

I was pretty ambivalent about the first book. I was good but I wasn dying for the next one. But Laura's got me good now, let me tell ya. Des is JUST the right amount of morally grey and i lvoe that Cali is becoming more grey too. the plot twists are GREAT and I honestly just have no idea how any of this is going to end ( )

All the stars! A little predictable in some parts but thoroughly enjoyable!

I love Des more and more as the series progresses! ( )

Maybe someday I will finish it, but I can't see it happening anytime soon. Almost end of the year and I'm feeling like cleaning my reading lists and this one it's already time enough here

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first. Callie's personality has changed a bit and she seems extra dense, with a lot of repeating questions she's been asked and giving off a very valley girl idiot vibe. For someone that's supposed to have grown up fast due to past traumas and a hard life and then making a career out of being a private investigator, she seems very naive and stupid. Des, who is supposed to be at least 250 years old based on the proceeding novella, could not have fallen for her without the complication of the magic-based 'soulmate' tie. Nothing bothers me more than when an already cliche female character goes to the next level by losing her mind as soon as she's in a dude's arms.
Once I got past that, however, the continuing plot kept me glued to this book. It takes place directly after the first with little to no time in between. It still has the fanfiction writing quality (and it's even more a wing fic now) and it's very heavy on the Twilight vibes - but as someone who is thoroughly entertained by both, that wasn't a hurdle.
I look forward to the third full-length book and hopefully getting to the conclusion of the Thief of Souls mystery. ( )

The quality I enjoyed the least about the first book was the heroine's slowness to catch onto things. I had hoped that now with the question of 'does he like me??' settled, that we could move on to something more interesting. But unfortunately she just seemed to be kinda whiny and wimpy in this one. (To be fair, she can't use her powers for a lot of the book, so she's basically made human in a world full of more powerful beings). But still, she seems to only begrudgingly learn the things that are still within her power. I wouldn't really enjoy daily and lengthy combat training either, but if I had been abducted and nearly killed previously and the chances were fair that it might happen again, you can bet I would get on board. And if I had suddenly been granted giant wings, you can bet the farm that I would be determined to learn to fly with them! She's an adult and these things could easily be the difference between life or death. She shouldn't have to be made to do them, pouting all the way. She seemed to be more reckless but less powerful, and it was a difficult combination. The story besides her role held my interest though. ( )
