It almost seems like Lee is running a bed-and-breakfast, in addition to the chocolate shop, but all those house guests are just there temporarily. Still, she and Joe have been married only a few months, and they hardly have any time alone. And while Joe has vouched for each of the guests he has invited, Lee is a little uneasy around a couple of them. She knows there is more to their stories than Joe is telling her. But taking her full attention are the home burglaries that seem to be increasing in frequency. And then, things gets personal when the thieves hit Lee’s neighbors. This cozy mystery has plenty of action to keep you turning pages until the very end. ( )

Newlyweds Lee and Joe have settled into their home but enjoying time together is just a thought. Joe is working overtime at his business and it is tourist season in charming Warner Pier which means Lee's business TenHuis Chocolade is running on overdrive. A heatwave complete with humidity, conked out air-conditioning and a houseful of guests and life becomes complicated.

In the midst of all this there are a series of robberies at some of the vacation homes in the area. Antiques seem to be the item of choice. When a body shows up in the lake there Lee starts wondering if there is a relationship between the body and the thefts.

A fun cozy read from JoAnna Carl's Chocolate series. There are also some reviews of chocolate books sprinkled through the pages.

Sit back, put your feet up and enjoy a good read! ( )

I'm sucking these books down like Coca Cola. Already I've read the 7th book in the Chocoholic series. Once again, the author managed to make this particular story differ from its likes. However the climax, if we can call it that, was similar because of Pete's predicament. It was nice to read about Joe's and Lee's - who's no longer a McKinney - post honeymoon period. I enjoyed reading about Gina, who loves specific genre books, like yours truly. Till next time. ( )

I felt that this one was strong. Although I was missing some favorite regulars, there were many regulars returning, and some new interesting ‘characters’. I was afraid the dynamic could change now that Lee and Joe were married, but it seemed that the author did a good job with so many other characters of making it not all about the two of them. Interested to see if it can maintain the integrity and carry on with the tone through out the series. Nice cozy mystery, with lots of action. ( )

This series has gone downhill. Too bad, really, because it had a lot of promise.

This particular entry hits the reader over the head constantly with the fact that it's hot in Warner Pier. And there doesn't seem to be any reason for the long descriptions of the weather other than to take up room on the page. We are supposed to believe that Lee has to suffer with the heat and may lose her business because her central air goes out and they only have casement windows so they can't put in window units. Well, you know what? We don't have central air and we don't have window units. For YEARS they've been making rolling AC units you just take from room to room with you. Is everyone in Warner Pier too backward to know about such a thing? What kind of business owner doesn't know exactly where to lay her hands on something so vital to her business?

Plus, Lee's verbal tick is really, really annoying. ( )
