The terrorist attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001, the subsequent international war on terrorism and the continued instability in the Middle East and elsewhere have underscored the need for a deeper awareness of the world around us and where it is headed. This Project was conceived to begin forming a comprehensive, cross-cultural appreciation of the public's evolving attitude toward their national government, their political leaders, and toward the U.S. Extensive face-to-face interviews were conducted with tens of thousands of people in every region of the world. This is the broadest and deepest public opinion poll of its kind, purposely designed to provide the public, the press and policy makers with the kind of vital, timely information they need.
