"A twisted modern love story" (Parade), Tell Me Lies is a sexy, thrilling novel about that one person who still haunts youâ??the other one. The wrong one. The one you couldn't let go of. The one you'll never forget.
Lucy Albright is far from her Long Island upbringing when she arrives on the campus of her small California college and happy to be hundreds of miles from her motherâ??whom she's never forgiven for an act of betrayal in her early teen years. Quickly grasping at her fresh start, Lucy embraces college life and all it has to offer. And then she meets Stephen DeMarco. Charming. Attractive. Complicated. Devastating.

Confident and cocksure, Stephen sees something in Lucy that no one else has, and she's quickly seduced by this vision of herself, and the sense of possibility that his attention brings her. Meanwhile, Stephen is determined to forget an incident buried in his past that, if exposed, could ruin him, and his single-minded drive for success extends to winning, and keeping, Lucy's heart.

Lucy knows there's something about Stephen that isn't to be trusted. Stephen knows Lucy can't tear herself away. And their addicting entanglement will have consequences they never could have imagined.

Alternating between Lucy's and Stephen's voices, Tell Me Lies follows their connection through college and post-college life in New York City. "Readers will be enraptured" (Booklist) by the "unforgettable beauties in this very sexy story" (Kirkus Review). With the psychological insight and biting wit of Luckiest Girl Alive, and the yearning ambitions and desires of Sweetbitter, this keenly intelligent and supremely resonant novel chronicles the exhilaration and dilemmas of young adulthood and the difficulty of letting goâ??even when you know yo

I did not expect to like this as much as I did... I believe I started it shortly before bed, next thing I knew it was 2:30am and I was finishing it in one sitting. The multiple points of view worked well for the plot - if you were ever in college, chances are you'll be able to see yourself or people you knew in the characters. ( )

Remember your sweet college friend who kept going back to her terrible man even though he was terrible every single time they got together? Relive that by reading this book.

Ugh! I hated both Lucy and Stephen but I guess that’s a sign of good writing, right? The ending was just too pat and didn’t fit with beginning of the book. ( )

Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering is a romance novel I will never forget. This is the first book that hooked me into the romance genre. Lucy Albright is the full package. She is smart and ambitious, young and beautiful. She is in her freshman year in a small college in California. She comes from a loving, privileged home (in Cold Spring Harbor, NY). Lucy finds herself falling for Stephen DeMarco, a junior at her college. He is so boring. His hobbies include drinking beer, watching South Park, and calling everyone pathetic and moronic. More importantly, he does not treat Lucy well. He lies and cheats and derails her life, yet still doesn’t even have the decency to feel guilty about it. Lucy spends five years pining after Stephen. No matter how badly he treats her, she keeps coming back for more. Dig deeper and you will find that Lucy’s life isn’t as charmed as it appears. When she was fourteen, she suffered a trauma "the Unforgivable Thing" hat left her mistrusting and cynical. She has an impressionable, compulsive personality (her college years are marked by an eating disorder and a cocaine habit. ) Stephen knows exactly how to play it: he knows how to seduce, how to turn on the charm. A "love story" this is not, but lust it most certainly i; one that captures the acute angst, longing, and urges that mark an unhealthy, yet addictive attraction. The toxic lust is what draws the reader in and keeps them there.
