While I continue to absolutely love the artwork this one just didn't capture my attention like the last one did. Once again Chet was my favorite and they just continue to be my favorite. While I liked Selena and Julie in the last volume, I did think they may have been going too fast with their relationship. Now, this time its obvious that their relationship is moving too quick. While I typically love that their relationship isn't all rainbows and sunshine it seems to be a bit unhealthy, which worries me. The script for this one was also uninteresting, the stakes just seemed low and I didn't even really care about it. I hope the next one is better.

Overall, the artwork is amazing but the writing needs more work. ( )

While I very much enjoyed the first volume of this series, the second doubles down on the silly and ends up with a plot that doesn't make much sense. The art is still super cute, and I kept reading entirely for the art. I found the plot to be confusing and rushed, without character development or much in the way of motivations. It was honestly difficult to explain to other people, moreso than the first. I chalked my confusion in the first volume up to the fact that I was reading in issues rather than in a complete trade, but I didn't have that excuse this time. No amount of adorable queer werewolves can make up for a "fairy frat boy fight!" plot that comes out of and disappears back to the mist. ( )

Considering how much I enjoyed the first book in this comic series, I found this one a bit underwhelming. The premise this time around is based on the classic trope of two warring factions of faerie, which the authors relocate to the more appropriate setting for their universe as two warring (faerie) frat houses. If this story was just about the conflict I think that the story would have been very strong, but it got muddled and overcomplicated by continuing to set the story around the already established protagonists who have much less to do with this conflict. I guess the point of the story is that through their muddling into the middle of a faerie-frat conflict they develop as individuals and learn to trust their relationships more, which is valid, but I would have been way more entertained by a story about the faeries from their point of view! ( )
