Done now. 2.5*. I thought the story was a bit long for what it offered. The whole story dragged on. // Instalove after their initial rocky meeting (cue the eye roll). Zero sexy time or maybe I should say, all off screen. // They told us a big clue about what happened to the missing girl at about 3/4 way but none of the characters picked up on it so we had to wait for it all to be revealed later. // Too many "Nora felt her face get hot", "Briana's cheeks and ears were red". Way too many!
I do think there is an audience for the story. It's a slow mystery involving ghosts, horses, Ireland and two women falling in love. It was just a little too long and tame for my preferences.

3 rotating chapters
- The MC, Nora who is 35ish, is an American spending the summer in Ireland in a cottage owned by an old friend of her Grandfather. Her Grandparents were born and raised in the town she is staying at. Nora plans to spend the summer answering the question "what do you become when you're on your own. When it's just you?"
- Brianna who is a local, works with horses at Nora's cousin's stable. She has a broken communication filter. Ex: When Nora is asked why she came to Ireland, Bri interrupts her answer with "Let me guess, you came to Ireland to write a book." But since this is a romance, Nora of course, has this opinion of Bri "From what I’ve seen, she’s all gruff with people, but then I watch her with the horses and her dog, and she’s different. Softer and gentler."
- Móirín (Maureen) is our MC from the past, she used to live in the cottage where Nora is staying. Through her we are witness to stories of some families during the potato famine of the mid 1800s. She is the mother of 6 kids working at a castle so she is better off than many. I think Móirín as a "ghost", has something she needs help with. Nora can often smell the scent of Bird Cherry (Wild Lilac) when the ghost is around

Cute. The MC's grandparents were extras in the movie THE QUIET MAN so they still lived in Ireland in the 1950s. My husband and did a rewatch just now.

The title is the name of the Nora's cousin's business. Which is a greenhouse & 25 acre landscape nursery, a shopfront and the riding stable with horses for giving tourists rides. // Also a metaphor for the "heart" "filled with thorns and loneliness and heartache"
