Five groups of people, in addition to Jews, were victims of Nazi persecution and genocide in WW2, with large numbers confined to prisons and concentration and forced labor camps, where many perished. The Nazi's viewed "Poles" as "sub-humans" occupying lands vital to Germany. The Nazi regime viewed Sinti and Roma ("Gypsies") as racial "inferiors" who threatened the biological purity of the "superior Aryan" race. The Nazis forced the sterilization of all persons with diseases considered hereditary, such as mental illness, retardation and epilepsy. Homosexuals were condemned as "socially aberrant." Jehovah's Witnesses had the opportunity to escape persecution by renouncing their religion, but the vast majority refused to do so. Illustrations Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
