Being a history of 1940's professional football entity the All-America Football Conference, which, as it succumbed, contributed three teams to the evolution of the National Football League. The league's strongest teams compared favorably in ability and attendance to the established league, but there was little comparative balance--in four seasons, it had but one champion. This account is workmanlike and definitive; each and every game is briefly described, usually including attendance figures. It's an interesting story for the fan, but probably contains too much detail to be particularly interesting for the general reader. ( )
