Visto che oggi è la vigilia – auguri! – ho pensato di decidermi a recensire l'unico libro vagamente natalizio che ho letto quest'anno, cioè l'ennesimo libro de La Confraternita del Pugnale Nero. Lз habitué del blog sanno già che è la mia saga guilty pleasure preferita e che non me ne perdo un'uscita ed eccomi qua.

Sottolineo il vagamente natalizio perché è un romanzo più invernale (visto che per diverse pagine ci ritroviamo in mezzo a una mega tempesta di neve) che natalizio e – decisamente – non ci troverete solo sorrisi e gingerbread, ma tematiche importanti come traumi, suicidio e disordini alimentari. Zia Ward ha ripreso in mano il personaggio di Qhuinn e con tutto il casino irrisolto che è la sua vita passata.

Il presente va più che bene, con Blay che è un tesoro come sempre e sarà di nuovo il compagno di vita di cui Qhuinn ha bisogno. Ma. Come d'abitudine, nei romanzi di Ward l'amore non è abbastanza a guarire certe ferite, non è abbastanza a cancellare gli abusi subiti in passato e, purtroppo, a volte non è abbastanza da desiderare di continuare a vivere. Ci sono dei momenti in cui questo romanzo è davvero straziante e sono grata alle capacità di Ward di portare certe tematiche nella letteratura di intrattenimento.

Sono ancora un po' sconcertata, invece, dalle scene di sesso: voglio dire, Ward ha discusso con il suo editore e – immagino – ha speso la sua influenza acquisita come autrice bestseller per inserire questa coppia di ragazzi nella sua serie e ancora non mi scrive delle scene di sesso sensate (e con questo intendo che in alcuni momenti non si capisce nemmeno bene cosa stiano facendo di preciso ed è tutto molto strano). Capisco che non si possa avere tutto nella vita, ma insomma, qualcunǝ spieghi due cose a questa donna! ( )

I have to wonder if this is the last time we see Elle? ( )

A nice novella. Not a lot happens, but you get a lot more zadist, blay and Quinn. ( )

Well, this one had me swinging back in forth between like and 'Not so Much'.

It was good but not great.
The ending was quite the twist and I really loved that part!
I didn't see that coming till I was close to the end and that I loved.

I've been wondering how Ms. Ward was going to deal with Quinn's brother. And this definitely dealt with that. But honestly, it felt like a 'cop out'. Like she couldn't come up with a better solution.

Anyway, there is a Lot of Tears, angst, drama etc. from various characters. Some very sexy steamy scenes. And, my favorite, a very interesting twist or two.
Quite frankly, I think those twist is what really made this worth reading.
And I AM a devout BDB lover. Soooo, I hate to say it, but yep. 3.75 is the best I can give this one. ( )

Bittersweet

This was kind of a feel-good book but had some sad occurrences too.

I'm not a real fan of the revisiting of the couples but I read them because it's part of the series. Most of the time, a new romance is also introduced.

I'm hoping to see more of the Prison Camp and the Wolven in upcoming books. ( )
