Io non so davvero come sia possibile che a questo giro Ward abbia creato un’eroina così assolutamente irritante da essere respingente. Sul serio, come le è passato in mente che Mae, tutta incentrata su se stessa e senza una vera e propria evoluzione, potesse essere una buona eroina? Una che a parole vuole essere tutta indipendenza e poi non riesce nemmeno a sfruttare una fonte di informazioni praticamente gratis che ha accanto a lei? Mae è tutto tranne che indipendente: è troppo scema per essere qualsiasi cosa (e non riesco a scusarla nemmeno per il trauma che ha subito, è un personaggio troppo nonsense).

Pure la sua storia d’amore con Sahvage è di una noia mortale, oltre al fatto di non essere sviluppata troppo bene: meno male che i personaggi secondari sono interessanti e promettono bene per il futuro, altrimenti mi sarei addormentata durante la lettura. In particolare, ho adorato Nate e Xhuli (ricordano molto i bei tempi di John, Qhuinn e Blay) e Balz, che non mi aspettavo avesse un background tanto triste.

Sono molto intrigata dall’introduzione della storyline dedicata a Lassiter, un personaggio che Ward ama molto e al quale spero renderà giustizia. Lo conosciamo da così tanto tempo (dal decimo libro!), ma senza sapere che qualche indizio sul suo passato che non vedo l’ora di saperne di più (sapremo anche dei suoi misteriosi trascorsi con Vishous? Chissà…). Dovrebbe essere anche l’occasione per veder spuntare Eddie Adrian dalla serie Fallen Angels e penso proprio che sarà bello reincontrarli.

Poi c’è Devina. Devina che è stronza, che è la cattiva perversa che cammina sui tacchi a spillo e che tira fuori dallǝ lettorǝ ogni sentimento di repulsione possibile. È un personaggio apprezzabile solo in quanto antagonista: per il resto è solo pelle d’oca, disgusto e timore che possa fare del male a chiunque tu voglia bene in questa serie. E le cose non possono che peggiorare… ( )

Totally loved this!!! And from this, I am expecting a love story about Lassiter and his white haired angel and Balthazar and his cop. Can't wait for the next series.

P.S is it weird if I actually feel pity for Davina? Even just a little?? ( )

I received an Arc from Edelweiss of this book. As usual, loved seeing most of the Brothers. Just felt that there were too many stories within the main story. It got confusing at times. Interested how this next story on the series will play out due to the different story lines within the book. I had to look back at previous books to refresh the memory of Murhder and Nate. Did not like the character of Devina. I know that coming up with new storylines may be difficult working the Lessening Society. Looking forward to see where this new line takes us!! ( )

This book was tedious at best. The characters were lackluster. The plot was convoluted. Why are the warlocks and witches all of a sudden. The past characters didn't seem like themselves. The typical writing style wasnt there. This book felt like a ghost writer was writing it. ( )
