Over a billion beings perished during the Founders War and six years after its conclusion the major governments of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants have not fully recovered from the devastation. During this rebuilding period, a band of pirates known as the Talesian Brotherhood had grown from a minor irritation to an ever-increasing threat to shipping lanes and isolated planets. When the Brotherhood attacks a poorly-defended planet, a number of Starfleet Security personnel are killed including their commanding officer, Lt. Tatiana Shushunova-Nandi. Little could the Brotherhood have guessed that her husband was once one of Section 31's most successful and lethal operatives. He has now vowed to avenge his wife's death and destroy the Brotherhood. With the help of his aging comrades once known as the Poison Clan and Starfleet's youngest and most promising starship captain, his plan for revenge has begun to take shape.
