After Nick Santiago's office burned down, he and Riley Thorn moved in together and are working out of her house where a group of quirky tenants also live. Nick's tendency toward being over-protective of Riley is worse since her brush with death, so when she is asked by Nick's former partner to consult on another murder case, he believes he must forbid her from helping, leaving Riley unhappy with his attitude. The waters get even muddier when Riley's grandmother comes for a visit to instruct her in the use of her psychic powers.

The Corpse In the Closet is a great addition to the Riley Thorn series. The romance between Nick and Riley continues to develop, and new characters are introduced that add to both the fun and the mystery in the book. There are lots of laugh out loud moments, and an abundance of clues carefully paced throughout the story to build suspense. While some of the events rely on coincidence and are over the top, the plot seems to find balance from the first page right up to the end of the narrative. Overall, The Corpse In the Closet is an entertaining romantic suspense novel well worth the read. ( )

The Corpse in the Closet is the second book in the Riley Thorn cozy mystery series by Lucy Score and it is just as entertaining as the first. The quirky and mostly loveable characters are back as well as several not quite as loveable characters including Nick’s parents and Riley’s ex-husband. The romance has heated up between Riley and Nick who are now living together and she works in his detective agency. This is a fast, fun, and often laugh-out-loud funny cozy with an interesting mystery which ends satisfactorily with hints of what to expect in the next instalment and I am so looking forward to it. A perfect read for a lazy afternoon.
