But did you also know she could write?! She can, and how. Seriously, just listening to Julia's voice and those she creates for the characters she reads is entertaining enough, but to read or hear - of course, I listened - how well she writes, it's like a double scoop of your favorite ice cream with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry. Seriously. The gal can write. Thank You for Listening is about, surprise, an audiobook narrator. Before you get all wildly twiterpated, it is not autobiographical, or at least that's what Julia says at the end of the book. Wink. Wink. This book is so good. I was there. I was invested. I LOVED the dialogue. If there was one thing I had to pick out as my favorite part of the book, besides the characters' names: Sewannee, Brock McKnight, Adoaku, it would be the dialogue. Just so good. Oh, right, and what is the book about - a woman who thought she knew her path, was derailed due to tragedy out of her control, and then how she found a new, albeit splintered, way to come back to finding herself (and the love of her life because this is, after all, a romance book). SO GOOD. And I'm not into HEA so this is saying something. This is a super meta-romance-audiobook and I loved it. The lead characters are both audiobook romance narrators so they know all the tropes and can't believe that they're actually living them. Julia Whelan does a great job giving us a satisfactory love story while mostly avoiding cliches (or at least winking at them) and digging deeper into what makes romance a popular and necessary genre. Subplots include: grandparent with dementia, Hollywood fame, disability caused by an accident, What Happens in Vegas keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML: From the author of My Oxford Year, Julia Whelan's uplifting novel tells the story of a former actress turned successful audiobook narratorâ??who has lost sight of her dreams after a tragic accidentâ??and her journey of self-discovery, love, and acceptance when she agrees to narrate one last romance novel. On her return home, Sewanee discovers one of the world's most beloved romance novelists wanted her to perform her last bookâ??with Brock McNight, the industry's hottest, most secretive voice. Sewanee doesn't buy what romance novels are sellingâ??not after her own dreams were tragically cut shortâ??and she stopped narrating them years ago. But her admiration of the late author, and the opportunity to get her grandmother more help, makes her decision for her. As Sewanee begins work on the book, resurrecting her old romance pseudonym, she and Brock forge a real connection, hidden behind the comfort of anonymity. Soon, she is dreaming again, but secrets are revealed, and the realities of life come crashing down around her once more. If she can learn to risk everything for desires she has long buried, she will discover a world of intimacy and acceptance she never believed woul Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden.

This is the only romance book I’ve read that is very very close to reality.
The banter in the emails and texts were so fun! They were probably one of my best parts of the book. Some parts felt long winded and unnecessary.
The other relationships portrayed in the book are so bloody wholesome. The friendship between the MC and A, her relationship with her grandmother. So beautiful to see. Definitely made me miss mine ( )
