Gave kind of Stand by Me vibes. a group fo five guys - four old friends and one new kid - discover a dead rich guy's cold war era bomb shelter. It becomes a haven for them and a secret they strive to protect. All the group take turns telling their story. Each character is developed and portrayed with care. There's an abusive step-dad and a high school aged dangerous creep that the kids have to grapple with as well as figuring out how to care for each other. Characters present white. ( ) My son loves Gordon Korman books and this one was great as well. It is a story of a band of boys who are more then friends but a small family and how they struggle through life together learning and helping eachother. It’s deeply emotional and for sensitive kids there is physical abuse in it which could be hard for some to process. My son loved this story and the brotherhood that developed in it. Evan, Jason, Mitchell, CJ and Ricky are in the woods after a huge storm when they discover something that has been uncovered by the extreme winds. They decide to keep it a secret and enjoy it themselves, but the pressure of a secret like this builds, and becomes more dangerous than they expected. Excellent realistic fiction about friendship and families. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
