This was a really cute book about a bookwork that has unique interests and follows his interest to the highest level in the USA - The Library of Congress. A bit of suspension of disbelief is required as bookworms read and talk with humans through out the book. The size scale exaggeration makes the bookworms small dog size. The family is traditional male-female parents. I read this in Spanish, so the language is gendered with male main character and female humans in supportive role. I think in English it would be more gender-neutral. The drawings are colorful but more of light colors or pastels. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Its very cute book and love the drawings!! Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. A cute and vibrant story about a worm that has a love for reading. Not afraid to reach new heights in his adventure, Benjamin seeks off to find something new to explore. An child's introduction into what their local library has to offer, as well as an introduction to the Library of Congress! Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. A worm, a book, naturally this story has to be about a bookworm. But this one is a bit different because Benjamin is an earthworm with a passion for books. But books are hard to find in the compost area. So Benjamin decides to venture away from his family to find what makes him happy. This picture book is a great reminder that you should always chase your dreams. The impossible is possible if you try hard enough. Benjamin is an adorable earthworm who will be very happy to become part of your library. I do have to note though, that I thought his journey was quite treacherous and disturbing. It could be upsetting for more sensitive kids and should be considered when choosing this book to read with your little one. Because not everyone likes worms crawling through their newspaper and it shows in this story. I wouldn’t want my favourite character to be in high-risk situations like that let alone my toddler. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Benjamin and his worm family lived in the back of a grocery store. They all ate through the scraps the grocer, Mr. Green, threw away.
All except Benjamin. He much preferred reading about peaches to eating them.
Benjamin’s brother, Digger, laughed; his parents wondered if he was okay. After all, whoever heard of a worm who read?
One night, Benjamin inched through a crack in Mr. Green’s wall and hid himself in a newspaper. He was certain someone would buy the paper and take him home. Then, Benjamin thought, he’d be able to read real books!
What will happen to Benjamin? And will his family come to understand his love of books?
