The folk-lore tales are especially valuable, and during the last half century they have found splendid collectors in Germany (the brothers' Grimm) in Norway (asbjornsen and Moe), and in Iceland (jon Arnason). These stories like many of the ballads are myths, in which the names of the gods have been changed or suppressed. The ballad and folk-lore tale are the resurrection of the buried myths. Scandinavian mythology is too vast a subject to be exhaustively treated in so brief an article as this.
