I have watched the 24 Hour Party People movie at least a thousand times and, recently I've bought the German Arthaus 2 disc version with (few) more bonus deleted scenes. I can sure tell that this book lives up to its name ("what the sleeve notes never tell you")! There are some scenes that without the information from the book would pass by imperceptibly (like when Tony Wilson talks to the owner of Granada TV asking for permission to present the Sex Pistols). The fact that the Brit/ Manc accent through the movie is so strong that, sometimes, it barely sounds like English gives the book more value. :) While the book claims to be based on the screenplay, it is written in an almost stream-of-conscience form. Very fun! In overall, the book is passionate about the music and the Post Punk/ Madchester scenes, making one want to look for the music that is written about. A good companion for this book is the Factory Records Communications 4 CD Box Set. R.I.P. (Rave In Parties) Tony Wilson, Mr. Manchester. Zeige 2 von 2
