The illustrations of The Good Little Mermaids Guide to Bedtime are beautiful. The story itself is cute and in a way reverse psychology in getting your child to do their bedtime routine. I read this with my daughter and comparing her to the little mermaid had her more excited to complete her bedtime routine. It’s a great children’s book that I also enjoyed. Although it as described for ages 3+ my 19 month old loves this book and has requested it be read to her before bed for the past week. The graphics are captivating, colorful and just overall a joy to look at. She currently loves pointing to all the sea creatures. As she grows I know she’ll begin to enjoy the story as well. It’s a sweet story on how you can be “bad” and your own kind of “good” at the same time. This will be a staple on our bookshelf for years to come! #ReadTundraDiese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. "It was funny because she thought she was scary but she wasn't" - 8yo son
"The scary parts were the funny parts" - 7yo daughter
We also really liked the beautiful colors and illustrations of the book. The story was simple and straightforward, an easy read aloud for kids who will sit and listen, so the recommended guide of 3-7 is probably accurate, though some 2yos who like mermaids will probably enjoy it too. At first it was confusing to tell the book the mermaid is reading from her spoken text but after a few pages it became clear. I would definitely read it again! Super cute.
Received a free copy from early reviewers but it didn't affect my review.

This charming book was a perfect fit for my two daughters, ages 6 and 4, who make it their nightly campaign to not go to bed.An unnamed "good" little mermaid gets ready for bed. She thinks of herself as a predator who doesn't have time for such niceties as tidying up her room and brushing her (razor sharp) teeth. She's too busy striking fear into other marine life...yawn...and will only go to sleep on her terms. I received this book as part of a giveaway on LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program in exchange for an honest review, and I'm glad I did. My daughters were enraptured throughout the book, even my sometimes distracted four year old. My six year old is obsessed with mermaids (she recently suggested the name " the Mermaids" for her soccer team), and this was a perfect fit. Gregory's illustrations are bold and splashy (sorry), with a lot of blues and greens. The book is large, and the illustrations pop off the page. This was a fun book to read, as well. I used a nice, calm voice to read the story about the good little mermaid getting ready for bed, and then a funny voice when the mermaid complains why she can't get ready. As the good little mermaid, I yawned at one point in the story and my six year old did, too. The Good Little Mermaid's Guide to Bedtime is a delightful book perfect for the four to seven year old in your life. I see myself reading this a lot in the next couple of years. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
A little mermaid, who is a terror of the deep--too fierce, scary and ferocious to follow The Good Little Mermaid's Guide to Bedtime--resists going to sleep at every turn, in this uproarious underwater story. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
