Ancestry Standards for Data Integrity provides only the most basic information on conducting family history research. There are many books much better for this purpose by well-established and respected genealogists (see, for instance, _The Family Tree Toolkit: A Comprehensive Guide to Uncovering Your Ancestry and Researching Genealogy_ by Kenyatta D. Berry, _Generation by Generation: A Modern Approach to the Basics of Genealogy_ by Drew Smith, or books by Kimberly Powell). Like another work by John P. Elcik which I received through the Early Reviewers program, I highly suspect this book was a gimmick written by AI. Not recommended. For a beginner genealogist this could be a useful starter guide. It covers all of the bases of genealogical research. I would like to see the topics fleshed out more with additional information. The sections felt short and uninformative. I also disliked the authors tone. It was too conversational and hokey, constantly welcoming the reader back, asking you to get a cuppa or board the train with him. As a seasoned researcher it was not helpful for me personally. The information included was very basic. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. These short (+ or - 90 page) books might be useful as handouts during a Beginner's class in Genealogy. Each of the three have a slightly different spin but are often repetitive. As a genealogist of about 30 years I did not find anything of particular use to me and unfortunately I found the glib tone rather off putting.Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. This book was published last year and is more a booklet than a book. With just 53 pages, the author gives the nuts and bolts of online geneology. I have been using the ancestry.com website for my own research and I am happy to say that, according to the author's tips, I covered all my bases well. The author provides the reader with a primer on how to accurately do online geneological research. He hives tips on what you should do to ensure the accuracy of your research as well as what not to do. As such, this book is a must read for anyone just starting out looking into their family tree. While I applaud the Author on his providing an abundance of information to get one started on the Genealogy trail, I only wish he provided more detail and examples within the book. He gives a lot of ideas of what to do, but doesn't elaborate on them. He mentions places and software to use, but it would be useful to show what they look like as well. I'm not saying this book is bad, in fact it is very good, just incomplete. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
