Is Miss Hearse the Nurse real, or have the students just imagined her?

The pictures are chock full of colorful details making this exciting to see as well as read. There were just a few words we had to sound out, like vaccination, but that made it perfect for Jackson. I will say it was a bit dated...referring to a VCR cart, which we had to explain to Jackson. History of tech rolled into reading time. ( )

A boy recalls the awful horrible stories he has heard of the school nurse. She seems evil and sinister. One day he realizes that he has broken out in small blue dots so he is forced to go to the school nurse. Once he arrives he realizes that none of the stories he has heard were true. She was able to fix him right up. She gave him a new pen and a whole new outlook on the school nurse.

I love this book so much. It was really interesting to read. The children I read it to really enjoyed it as well. It was very easy to read aloud. It enabled me to use different tones in my voice which the children really enjoyed.

This book is part of a series. You could use this series in a lesson plan about school because all of the books have something to do with the different employees in a school system. You could also have the kids diagnose the students mysterious blue dots or color some on their hand with washable marker. You could also use a stenciled hand and have them make their own colorful desease.
