Oh yes a great find....loads of tidbits of information that will make you go searching for more. Griffin loved it but I might have liked it even more:) ( )

A great DK book with the secrets of the world inside! It is colorful and accessible and you can jump to any point in the book one way or the other. Great trivia inside! ( )

I have to admit this is a hard book for me to review. I'm not used to books that aren't read in page order, and most books I read have a plot or theme or specific subject to them. And really, this isn't the type of book one just sits down and reads cover to cover - it's more a skim-through type of book, or one used for reference from time to time.

That said, I found it interesting. The small blocks of information make it easier to read without feeling like you're getting bogged down by a lot of information all at once, and the multitude of pictures and graphics are eye-catching as well as informative. There are often notes referencing other sections of the book, which can make reading this book almost like a non-fiction version of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" novel.

It's simplistic, but as it's intended for children, I imagine it's right up their alley.

Entertaining and educational (though I'd take some of the information with a grain of salt - I noticed a mistake once, but for the life of me can't find it again). ( )

A nice collection of little known information. It is colorfully presented with foldout facts sheets and lots of graphics. A great book for a kid that likes to read but also a nice book to have around to start conversations.

Something for everyone. ( )

So, John Fardon is telling us "secrets" about things we wouldn't learn about otherwise. Well, that all depends on how well read and educated you may already be.

While I did learn some things I didn't know about, or learned some additional details, at the same time I learned about some of these things years ago from other sources. All the same, the book made for intresting reading in how it's presented and how it relates various topics.

Another one of my bathroom reading books. You can read this while otherwise occupied in small doses, but if you're not careful, you can get lost in reading as you jump to various "links" to related topics. ( )
