What a delightful book! ( )

I loved this book. It was told from the perspective of a "professional" storyteller, traveling the Irish countryside and earning his keep by telling stories. This format made it easy to jump all over Irish history. It was set 150 years ago. In particular, I know this led us to visit New Grange on our recent visit to Ireland. ( )

A beautiful coming-of-age story about a boy questing for the traveling story-teller. Along the way, he gathers stories of his own, learns secrets, and grows up enough to better understand his country, his family and himself.

For any who want to highlight flaws, “a story has but one master.” ( )

There are many reviews of this book, to which I've come lately, so I won't add another. But I would highly recommend to anyone considering it to experience it in audio. This story about storytelling is the perfect vehicle for an excellent, excellent read through the ears! ( )
