"The Collie of Castle Hill" is the story of Carl and Lucky's adventures, the loving bond between a boy and his dog, and the event that led to Carl Maier's life-long commitment to bringing dogs and people together for companionship and comfort. The text and illustrations are based on events that took place in the mid-fifties, as told to author/illustrator C. R. Carter by Carl Maier. Due to the fact that the only witness to the fishing incident has long since passed away, the story is presented as a work of fiction.
